sports at the college
Sport plays a very important role
in the lives of pupils at St George’s. In seeing the whole picture we feel that
the extra-curricular sport that we offer exercises the pupils faculties in the
physical, cognitive, social and emotional realms.
Participation in sport is compulsory – each child has to participate in at least one summer and one winter sport. We encourage good sportsmanship and fair play at all times. Every child is given a sound grounding on the basic skills in the main sports and as much attention is paid to a child’s attitude as to his or her performance. Our philosophy is to emphasise the importance of sport for the individual, for teamwork, camaraderie and a healthy lifestyle.
We hope that talented sporting individuals will fulfil their potential and achieve representative honours and colours. Above all, however, we want St George’s children to take with them a love of sport and a sound grounding in skills that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
