CULTURAL ACTIVITIES OVERVIEW
Our pupils are well rounded individuals. The
College take pride in offering, despite the small number of pupils, a wide
range of cultural activities. Below you'll find a brief description of
eachof the activities on offer.
Speech & Drama
Speech and Drama is one of the activities where pupils learn techniques
to conduct themselves in public places. It helps them to control the fear of
speaking in front of crowds by boosting their confidence in acting in open
places.
Debating/Public Speaking
The College enjoys a tradition of always been represented by very strong
debating teams, both our Junior and Senior teams are amongst the best in the
metro and two of our pupils (Lauren Dickason & Vuyokasi Sigodi) were
recently invited to participate in the National Moet where they had the
oportunity of showing their public speaking abilities in a courtroom
environment.
Community Service
Our pupils are involved in various community projects. Regular visits to
Isithembiso Childrens Home, Hacks of alien vagetation in the Baakens valley,
beach clean-ups and collecting non perishable food and clothing for peoples
in need are, amongst many, the main projects our schools embarks on every
year. Pupils are very enthusiastic and enjoy the activities. These
activities also are used as community services hours for Life Orientation as
well as for President's Award.
President's Award
This is an international program endorsed by The Nelson Mandela
foundation where pupils get involved in a number of activities with the main
aim of making a difference in the world we live in. Community Service,
sports, camps and public speaking are but a few of the activies the pupils
engage in. The program has three phase and the pupils are encouraged to
apply early in their high school journey in order to obtain the Gold
certificate by the time the finish their high school.
