PTA

Our school PTA is very involved with school to contribute to the overall well being of the pupils at St George's College.

A group of dedicated mothers devote a great deal of time to fundraising activities and other activities aimed maily at strengthening the relations between the parents and the College.

2010 pta annual report

By: JACQUI REDMAN

This year has been a transition year for our PTA. We have a core of dedicated members to whom we are extremely grateful. Next year we would like to be more active and I urge our parent body to become more involved in supporting our functions, without you we can do very little.

Please contact me if you are willing to join the PTA in 2011 or help in any way, we need Dads and Moms, We are here to raise much-needed funds for the College as well as to develop social interaction between our parents.

Once again our first function of the year was to sell boerewors rolls at the St George’s Schools annual Fun Run. This is a fun event and those who take part always enjoy the day.

In our continued efforts to build more interaction between the Prep and College, we combined our golf days and held the combined St George’s Schools golf day at Humewood Golf Club on 28 August 2010. It was a beautiful, sunny, and (can you believe it?) windless day. In fact it was a perfect day for Golf. Players, young and old, enjoyed the day. Thank you for the excellent support. The day was an unqualified success and we look forward to repeating this formula next year. A special word of thank you is also directed to all those who contributed to by sponsoring a hole, a prize or a four ball. It really was appreciated

The St George’s Prep Food Fair was a resounding success. Huge congratulations must be extended to the Prep PTA for all their bard work in initiating and organising this event. This year we were again given the opportunity to have stalls at this event. We had two stalls that were fairly well supported. This is a big opportunity and we can do much more at this event next year. We look forward to parents coming up with ideas and help.

As usual the music trivia evening was heaps of fun with lots of music, singing and dancing. Please loin us next year - it is most entertaining - and more importantly support the College.

I would love to see St George’s College more involved with the Prep in functions and social events, perhaps with the Prep’s 75th birthday and our 10th birthday we will see this come to fruition in 2011,

Finally, a big thank you to Felicity, Barbara, Debbie and Nicole for their help and to Johan Black for his enthusiasm and constant assistance.
